New Publication in Cooperation with the Laboratory for Biomaterials and Polymer Science and the Chair of Materials Technology

In cooperation with the Laboratory for Biomaterials and Polymer Science and the Chair of Materials Technology of TU Dortmund the influence of chemical cross-linking using a peroxide on the mechanical, rheological and tribological properties of a low density polyethylene (LDPE) was investigated. The results of our research have been published in the article "Combination of a Viscoelastic and a Tribological Analysis of a Low-Density Polyethylene with a High Degree of Cross-linking" in the Journal "Macromolecular Chemistry and Physics". Already at a low peroxide concentration (1 phr) crosslinking drastically reduces wear of LDPE. At a high peroxide concentration (20 phr) a significant embrittlement and stiffness reduction of LDPE is evident.
