Excursion to Murtfeldt

Staff members and students of the “Manufacturing Technology” program jointly visited the company Murtfeldt in Dortmund. At the beginning, an overview of the key focus areas was presented, including machining and the additive manufacturing of plastic components as applied at Murtfeldt. It was also impressively demonstrated how strongly Murtfeldt is represented at its Dortmund site, what makes the company unique, and the high importance placed on the recyclability of plastics in order to sustainably close material loops.

This was followed by a comprehensive tour of Murtfeldt’s laboratory facilities, during which the previously introduced topics were illustrated in a practical context. The visit enabled the students to link theoretical knowledge with practical insights and to gain a deeper understanding of the demanding processing of plastics.
